IF THEY KNEW THEN WHAT THEY KNOW NOW

They laughed in the smoke and drank cold, cheap beer and wine. Slapped each other on the back. Thought it was over. Thought they’d won.

It was the kind of laughter that’s loud because it hides fear. It always has.

The three women were clever. Or they thought they were. Sharp tongues. Dull hearts. Witches, black magic addicts. Plotting with quiet grins and hands in their pockets. Not working hands. The other kind.

They thought they could twist the world like a cork out of a bottle.
And maybe for a while, they did.

They had their celebration. Drunk on their own schemes. They raised glasses to the sky and called themselves Queen Bees.

But a Woman isn’t a Queen just because she says she is.
And a crown made of lies cuts the one who wears it.

They were evil like termites — not loud, not flashy. Quiet destruction.
Eating away until the beams break and the house falls.

They didn’t see the weight coming down.
Not until it was too late.

And here’s the cruel thing:

If they knew then what they know now...
They wouldn’t have danced so early.
Wouldn’t have popped corks and sung their songs.
Wouldn’t have smiled that smile — the one that says, I got away with it.

But evil never sees the end coming.
It’s too proud. Too pleased with itself.

They celebrated prematurely.
And the prize they thought they won?

It wasn’t a prize.
It was a trigger.
The opening click here of the trap.
The silence before the avalanche.

Now they know.
But it’s too damn late.
